A universal coal grade. It's a kind of steam coal, although coke can be derived from it. The structure of this grade is denser than the long-flame varieties, but less sturdy. The material is black and can have a matte or metallic luster.

This coal grade has a high degree of metamorphism. When burned, it emits a white flame and forms a small quantity of volatile substances. The material is black and shiny, and its structure is homogeneous, with a small number of cracks. This coal is quite dense, but fragile. When impacted and subject to pressure, it easily breaks into pieces.
